Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Confirms Visakhapatnam as their New Capital

Speaking at the International Diplomatic Alliance meeting in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said Visakhapatnam would be the new capital of the state!

This comes years after scrapping plans to develop Amaravati (a region on the banks of Krishna river), started by the previous government TDP. CM Reddy has invited investors from all around the world to attend an upcoming summit in Visakhapatnam, scheduled on March 3rd and 4th.

Solving the debate on what would be the new capital of Andhra Pradesh – its Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stated Visakhapatnam to be their official region in the coming days.

He revealed this on Tuesday afternoon at the International Diplomatic Alliance meeting in Delhi, where he also invited global investors to attend their upcoming investor summit, scheduled on March 3rd and 4th in Visakhapatnam.

While this news is assuring some, farmers around the Amaravati region who gave up their lands for the development of capital are aggrieved. They had long been protesting and filing petitions against the idea of Andhra Pradesh having three capitals and making only Amaravati one.

Instead, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has long been arguing to set three capitals regions across the state, with Visakhapatnam being the executive capital. May these plans have been altered, as he now announced Visakhapatnam alone as the state’s new capital. He even promised to move to Visakhapatnam in the coming months.

Further, he urged investors from all around the world to come and visit Visakhapatnam and learn how “easy it is to do business in our state of Andhra Pradesh.” He requested everyone to put in a “strong, good word to your colleagues abroad” about the upcoming global investor summit.
