A 17-year-old footballer Priya hailing from Tamil Nadu, has succumbed to death due to the negligence of doctors after surgery. The teen was admitted to Government Peripheral Hospital in Periyar Nagar after she suffered from a ligament tear in her right knee in the first week of November.
Doctors performed surgery on her knee, and she was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital later. The doctors at RGGGH had to amputate her leg to save her life.
Death Due to Doctors’ Negligence in Tamil Nadu
After the surgery, the compression band on her knee was tightened restricting the circulation of blood. As a result, her kidneys and heart failed one by one slowly. She was shifted to the intensive care unit of RGGGH, Tamil Nadu, after her condition declined. She died of multiple organ failure at 7.15. a. m. On Tuesday. Priya has complained about severe pain after the surgery and swelling in her knee, which is unusual after the surgery. The doctors, however, neglected her pain until it was too late.
After Priya’s death, her family staged a protest against the negligence of the doctors and demanded immediate justice. The state Health Minister Subramanian rushed to the hospital and listened to the woes of the family.

He later told the media that the two doctors responsible for Priya’s death would be suspended, and a police complaint would be lodged against them. He announced that 10 lakh compensation would be paid to the family immediately, and one of Priya’s three brothers would receive a government job.
